Twice a year, the sun rises and sets directly in the east and west, marking the equinox. At Stonehenge Aotearoa, these events are brought to life through our unique Southern Hemisphere design.
On 23 September, we invite you to join us for a special presentation about the science and cultural meaning of the equinox. Afterward, weather permitting, you’ll witness the breathtaking moment when the setting sun aligns with the Henge. It is a powerful reminder of the connection between the Earth, the sky, and the cycles of nature.
